Diversity is very important within an organisation because it fosters creativity and innovation, but it can occasionally lead to difficulties in understanding others, bias towards colleagues or even discrimination. To create an inclusive environment, we need to understand our colleagues’ point of view, and even put ourselves in their shoes to create a more cohesive and positive environment. This workshop will focus on how to create this positive and inclusive working environment. It will be introduced by a presentation on inclusiveness and diversity, before opening the floor to contributions from the community. We are looking for presentations on activities implemented in institutes/laboratories that promote an inclusive or more cohesive, even positive, working environment, or more personal experiences of the arrangements put in place to promote diversity and inclusiveness. To help us prepare for this workshop, please submit your abstracts by 25 April 2025.
The first session will be followed by a discussion and interactive session on discussing the conditions for creating an inclusive environment, regardless of age, experience, origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability. The aim of this second part is to provide an open forum for exchange, and to offer solutions that will encourage enriching professional experiences. Rather than looking at ways of reacting to problematic situations, the aim here is to provide ways of avoiding such situations in the long term.
